Guest Post: Claireabellemakes Boho Hand Chain

Hello you wonderful lot. Today I have a very exciting guest post for you from the lovely Claire of Claireabellemakes! I met Claire at the #cambmeetup and fell in love with her blog DIYs and handmade beauties in her Etsy store. Todays post is a crafty DIY post so I hope you enjoy! xx

Hello! I'm super excited to be here on Kat's blog today to share a jewellery DIY. Kat's fashion posts are some of my favourites, so I hope this one fits nicely with her summer looks and gives you a chance to try some simple techniques.

Here's what you will need (all available from Craft stores, Etsy and Amazon):
·         Jewellery chain
·         Jump rings
·         Chain cutters
·         Jewellery pliers
·         Small pearl beads
·         Flower connector bead
·         Lobster clasp
·         Eye pins

For this DIY you will need to be familiar with two simple jewellery making techniques: opening and closing jump rings and making a loop. Jump rings are use to attach one component to another and are vital to jewellery making! I would recommend spending a few moments practising each of these before beginning.

If any of these instructions aren't clear, feel free to tweet me or drop me an email!

Step 1
Cut a piece of jewellery chain which just measures around your wrist. Fold this piece of chain in half and attach a jump ring at the half way point.

Step 2
On the free ends of the chain, attach a jump ring to one end and a jump ring plus lobster clasp to the other end. This forms the bracelet part of your hand chain.

Steps 3 & 4
Thread a small pearl bead onto the eye pin and make a loop with the straight end. Repeat this with two more beads so you have 3 in total.

Step 5
Now you are going to begin to make the decorative part of the hand chain and connect the components together. In between each component you will use jump rings to connect them. Your flower connector bead should have holes on each side where you can add a jump ring and then attach to the pearl bead sections.

Step 6
Repeat step 5 so your decorative section has two flower connectors with pearl bead sections either side and in between. Cut a piece of chain long enough to wrap around your middle finger and over your middle knuckle.

Step 7
Attach the finger chain to the decorative section with a jump ring. This completes the hand chain!

To wear, first place the finger chain on and then close the bracelet part around your wrist using the clasp.

Summer Look Book 2015

WARNING: This post is seriously photo heavy!

... But it's a look book- what did you expect?

Anyway welcome to my summer 2015 look book! These are outfits I'm loving for this summer and recently wore on my holibobs to Tunisia. There are four looks featured below:

Look 1

Culotte jumpsuit- New Look
Clutch- Ark
Necklace- gift

I am OBSESSED with this jumpsuit. Up until now I've never found a playsuit or jumpsuit that actually flatters my figure. They always seem to ride up in the wrong places #cameltoe or gather in the wrong places (making me look pregnant- nice), however this one is a dream with its boned upper half and flowing culottes. Very flattering for us curvy ladies. As for the shoes they're a really old pair but I adore them and think the pop touch of green from the clutch and the shoes really add to this otherwise black ensemble.

Look 2

Swing Dress- ASOS
Heels- eBay
Clutch- Ark
Necklace- Primark
Bracelets- various

This swing dress is so versatile and so easy to wear. Dress it up with strappy heels or wear it casually with a leather jacket and boots- it's a dream. As I've mentioned in many a video and post these heels were an absolute steal at £14.99 from ebay!

Look 3

Dress- H&M
Kimono- New Look
Necklace- Prairie Charms
Shoes- Primark
Bracelets- Various

I love how well this necklace and kimono pair together. Kimonos are big again this summer and easy to chuck on over a dress or cami and jeans for those chillier nights.

Look 4

Top- H&M
Skirt- H&M
Necklace- Primark
Bracelets- various

You can't go wrong with a simple bandeau and skater skirt. I've had this outfit for a good while but it still looks nice so why not? The Viv sandals I've lived and died in for almost four years now and they're still going strong!

So that is my summer look book. What do you think and what are you wearing this summer?

Beauty Bargains: Argan Oil Hydrating Hair Mask

Argan Oil Hydrating hair mask

Argan oil hydrating hair mask

I haven't done a beauty bargain post since way back in November when I was raving about the Aldi Carino Hairspray but that can step aside, there's a new product in town. Meet the Argan Oil hydrating hair mask.

I picked this up in my local Original Factory Shop when perusing for mundane crap. The £1 sticker smacked across it lured me in and I thought, why not? At £1 if it's rubbish you won't loose sleep about it.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I came to use it. Firstly the smell is pretty lovely and the texture is super thick and creamy- perfect for smothering my ever thirsty locks. It says to leave in your hair 7-10 minutes before rinsing which I do, sometimes for longer and give it a good old comb through. After rinsing out it leaves my hair much more manageable and silky soft- even my split ends. The first time using it I half expected it to leave my hair feeling greasy but it's just the right amount of moisture. I bloody love this stuff and it's lovely scent lingers all day after washing- oooh yeeeah.

So for £1 I really don't think you can go wrong. I'm using it every 7-10 days to give my hair little treat and I've certainly noticed a difference.

What are your favourite beauty bargains?
