Sportswear Haul

Hello you lovely lot! Today I have a sports wear haul on my youtube channel. It's not my normal type of haul I know but this year I'm attempting to keep fit and try and keep healthy. (We'll see how long this lasts!)

Whilst in America, I found loads of sports kit for cheap! America really is amazing for shopping! So if you'd like to see what I bought, click the video below:

Plane Pampering Beauty Regime | Tips and Tricks

plane pampering beauty regime

I don't know about you but I tend to find long haul flights boring and by the end of it I feel pretty gross with my make-up half wiped off, creased and general yucky so when I flew recently, I decided to do my own little beauty regime..

Long haul flights are the perfect opportunity to have a bit of me time whilst ensuring you look refreshed after your flight, plus it also helps to keep you occupied.

Products Used

  • Peel off face mask sachet. Any one will do but I bought this one.
  • Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Daily Moisturiser
  • No7 Youthful Eye Serum
  • Simple Exfoliating Facial Wipes
  • No7 Colour Match Concealer
  • Collection IlluminatingTouch Concealer
  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
  • Collection Pressed Powder
  • Soap & Glory Arch De Triumph eyebrow pencil
  • Barry M white kohl liner
  • No7 Stay Perfect amazing eyes pencil in grey
  • No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in Khaki Shine
  • No7 High Shine Lipgloss in Raspberry Kiss
  • No7 Lash Impact Mascara

The Face Mask

Now you may be thinking, Kat, a face mask on a plane- really!? But I thought about this don't you worry. I opted for a peel-off mask as this eliminates a sticky mess whilst ensuring you don't look completely mental to other passengers- you just look a bit shiny for a while. Once its dry it peels off like a dream and can be folded up in a tissue. Yes you may get the odd strange look when you're peeling it off but who cares? Your skin will look lovely by the end of it!

The Moisturising

When it comes to flying I find the cabin air is killer for my skin and lips. It leaves them prone to cracking, drying up and feeling horrid so a rich nourishing moisturiser and lip balm is your best friend. I smother these on (more than usual) and leave it for a good few hours, attempting a sleep in the process so that it has plenty of time to work it's magic. An eye cream is also handy to keep your peepers in tip top shape. I'm loving the No7 youthful eye serum as it gently nourishes the gentle under eye skin without leaving any greasy residue.

The Make-up

When it comes to make-up I like to apply mine an hour before we land. This ensures I have plenty of time to apply and pack away before buckling up for landing. The only bugger is if you're on a night time flight the lighting above you is RUBBISH but you've just got to work with it.

I like to keep it light with my base and don't bother with a foundation, plus finding a travel size one is a faff so I stick with concealers- a light one for general all over coverage, a light reflective one for under the eyes and a slightly more heavy coverage one for any blemishes and where I need it.

Flights are where your mini sized freebies come into play. All those mini testers or free gifts you get in places like boots are the perfect flying size so I took along a small eyeshadow, lip gloss and mascara that were all free gifts. Thanks No7! I also like to take along cheap make-up such as collection, just in case for some unbeknown reason I've picked up something too large a liquid. If it gets taken off me, I won't loose sleep over it.

Extras

You can really get creative with your pampering routine. A small nail varish to take along is perfect for sitting still on a flight or even a gel eye mask! I didn't bother but you can tailor make your own plane pampering regime.

So that's a little insight into my plane beauty regime as well as some tips and tricks. Would you dare to do a face mask or try a mani?

Cali Beach Vibes

what to wear to the beach

california beach outfit

H&M black tassled loafers
Shoes- H&M
Sunglasses- eBay

Can I just say I am absolutely in love with California- in particular Santa Barbara. The beach was beautiful and the view of the mountains behind were breath taking! The locals told me there are many more beaches along the west coast that are just as beautiful, if not more so but to me this place was stunning.

Walking along the beach in December in just a baggy swing dress was pure bliss! I picked this American Eagle swing dress on a shopping trip in Las Vegas and it definitely came in handy. Going from cooler climates in Vegas to cool Cali, this dress was versatile for layering or wearing alone. My H&M loafers were also great for wearing in warm and cold climates too whilst adding some style with their tassles and gold detailing.

I know this is a simple outfit but that's the beauty of it and with views like this... Why make things complicated?

Jumper- New Look
Leggings- Topshop
Trainers- Converse
Tartan Scarf- local market
Bag- Radley

I recently wore this outfit whilst travelling to Las Vegas. Chris and I stopped over in Larnaca, Cyprus for the first leg of the journey and came across these doors which kind of remind me of Hogwarts? Perfect for outfit snaps! This outfit is so comfy and instantly I felt like a winter Hogwarts student waiting to catch the train on platform 9 and 3/4. I love this big tartan scarf I picked up on a local market. It's super huge and comfy with room to wrap it around me- perfect for travelling and winter. If you're like me and a secret Harry Potter fan, this sweatshirt is perfect for a touch of style and geek chic!

Blog and Youtube Resolutions

I do this every year and most of the time I don’t stick to them, but hey, let’s be optimistic and go for it! (again!) I’ve decided this year though to do blogging/ youtue resolutions. Here we go…

This years resolutions are:

·         Continue to regularly upload blog posts and videos. I got really good at this around June time last year. I got a routine and miraculously stuck with it, so I’m hoping to continue in this fashion. I upload blog posts on Tuesdays and Fridays with a video accompanying one of the posts.
·         Vlog more. Chris and I have our own vlog channel which we predominantly started for living abroad so friends and family could keep up to date with us, but we both want to carry on and improve. I got hooked to the Michalak’s weekly blogs last year and subsequently Chris did too and we’re kind of in awe of their videos (and Chris of Stefan’s beard- beard envy!) so were hoping to create our own journey and stories equipped with my new vlogging camera!
·         Create more crafty posts. Last year was predominantly wedding based craft posts and videos, with my DIY Rustic Bohemian Wedding Invites being extremely popular, so much so it’s my most popular youtube video to date! I’d like to do beauty crafts, pet crafts and home crafts this year. Watch this space…
·         Get better on camera. If you watch my videos from way back in 2012 when I first started I was a a nervous wreck on camera. It makes me physically cringe to watch but also shows me how much better I’ve gotten talking to a camera. It’s a weird concept which I slowly got used to but there’s always room for improvement!
·         Get to know the community. I’m so shy when it comes to speaking to other bloggers and youtubers! I met some lovely ladies last year who have been amazing to chat to and I’m so grateful for that, I just always feel a bit self- conscious and a novice talking to experienced bloggers, eek!
So those are my resolutions blogging youtube wise. In my own personal life it’s the bog standard ones like “loose weight” which I’ll most likely give up on come March and “be less shy” but the most important thing I think everyone can do in the new year or anytime is embrace who you are. You are you, not anybody else so be happy in your own self and your skin. You only get one life!

Aaand before we get too deep I shall sign off.

Toodle pip!
