Plane Pampering Beauty Regime | Tips and Tricks

plane pampering beauty regime

I don't know about you but I tend to find long haul flights boring and by the end of it I feel pretty gross with my make-up half wiped off, creased and general yucky so when I flew recently, I decided to do my own little beauty regime..

Long haul flights are the perfect opportunity to have a bit of me time whilst ensuring you look refreshed after your flight, plus it also helps to keep you occupied.

The Face Mask

Now you may be thinking, Kat, a face mask on a plane- really!? But I thought about this don't you worry. I opted for a peel-off mask as this eliminates a sticky mess whilst ensuring you don't look completely mental to other passengers- you just look a bit shiny for a while. Once its dry it peels off like a dream and can be folded up in a tissue. Yes you may get the odd strange look when you're peeling it off but who cares? Your skin will look lovely by the end of it!

The Moisturising

When it comes to flying I find the cabin air is killer for my skin and lips. It leaves them prone to cracking, drying up and feeling horrid so a rich nourishing moisturiser and lip balm is your best friend. I smother these on (more than usual) and leave it for a good few hours, attempting a sleep in the process so that it has plenty of time to work it's magic. An eye cream is also handy to keep your peepers in tip top shape. I'm loving the No7 youthful eye serum as it gently nourishes the gentle under eye skin without leaving any greasy residue.

The Make-up

When it comes to make-up I like to apply mine an hour before we land. This ensures I have plenty of time to apply and pack away before buckling up for landing. The only bugger is if you're on a night time flight the lighting above you is RUBBISH but you've just got to work with it.

I like to keep it light with my base and don't bother with a foundation, plus finding a travel size one is a faff so I stick with concealers- a light one for general all over coverage, a light reflective one for under the eyes and a slightly more heavy coverage one for any blemishes and where I need it.

Flights are where your mini sized freebies come into play. All those mini testers or free gifts you get in places like boots are the perfect flying size so I took along a small eyeshadow, lip gloss and mascara that were all free gifts. Thanks No7! I also like to take along cheap make-up such as collection, just in case for some unbeknown reason I've picked up something too large a liquid. If it gets taken off me, I won't loose sleep over it.

Extras

You can really get creative with your pampering routine. A small nail varish to take along is perfect for sitting still on a flight or even a gel eye mask! I didn't bother but you can tailor make your own plane pampering regime.

So that's a little insight into my plane beauty regime as well as some tips and tricks. Would you dare to do a face mask or try a mani?
