How To Become A Pro At Caring For Your Skin

Having beautiful, radiant skin is something that we all desire, isn’t it? However, achieving this can be difficult, especially for some people more than others who aren’t blessed with good genes when it comes to our skin! For me, it's combatting my oily skin which is oh so annoying! Nevertheless, you do not need to despair as there are plenty of different things that you can do to make sure that you become a pro when it comes to looking after your skin. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the different things you can do to become a skin pro.

Educate yourself on skincare - There is only one place to begin, and this is by educating yourself on skincare. The only way that you can better anything in life is by learning more about it, right? That’s what we’re talking about here! There are lots of great blogs and resources that you can use to educate yourself. However, make sure you choose your resources with care. Look for blogs that are written by skin care experts and health professionals.

Seek specialist solutions for specific issues - A lot of people have different skin hang-ups, including rosacea, acne, and hyperpigmentation. For me it's mostly oily skin but I do have a touch of rosacea too. If you are suffering from a skin condition like this, or any other problem with your skin, you need to seek a specialist provider who can assess your skin and recommend the best option for you. You can use this website for a good example of the sort of skincare provider you should be looking for.

Use natural skincare products - Another way to ensure your skin looks and feels its very best is to use natural skincare products. There are lots of great products on the market today for your skin, so there is no need to go for a chemical solution. When you use a natural product, you know that you are only applying products that are going to be kind to your skin. You do not have to worry about any possible problems in terms of allergic reactions and such like. I always turn to Lush products when I'm looking for natural skincare and it always helps to balance out any problems I may be experiencing.

Understand every element of your skincare routine - Last but not least, this is an important one when it comes to making sure you achieve your skincare goals and that your skin looks as radiant and youthful as possible. When you apply products to your skin, why do you do so? Is it simply because you have read somewhere that this routine is going to be best? Instead, you need to understand what each product is going to be doing for you. What benefit will it bring you? What is the purpose of adding this specific product to your skincare regime? That way you'll get the best out of your skincare and in turn your skin will benefit!

So there you have it: some of the different things you can do to become a professional when it comes to your skin. From using good online resources to investing in natural, premium quality healthcare products, there are plenty of things you can do to ensure that your skin looks young and radiant.

The Lush Life

Lush is my go-to shop for a beautiful bath bomb or any kind of bath product for that matter, but what I didn't realise was just how many other products they provide.

Recently I attended a blogger's event at Lush in Peterborough with fellow local bloggers to find out what's on offer in the highly scented store.

Did you know Lush have toothpaste tablets!? Yup, just pop one in your gob, crush it up and brush away! They even had other flavours that taste like cherry colar bottles and more. I'd never even realised that they did oral hygiene products and even have solid deodorant with antibacterial properties and powder deodorants too to keep you smelling fresh and are gentle to you too.

Another product I was introduced to were massage bars. There are so many benefits from massage such as aiding sleep, soothing tired muscles and general relaxation, making you feel generally better in body and soul. Lush have a huge variety of scented bars that melt to the touch, making them easy to work into the skin.

We were shown lots of lovely smelling products and I was particularly drawn to these lip scrubs, smelling like bubblegum and popcorn! The Lush team had so much knowledge of what the products do, how they're made and their benefits with so much enthusiasm for their products which just goes to show they love what they do and love their products.

During the event I was of course swooning at the pretty products and amazing scents throughout the store and had to give everything a smell or a try!

Soon we had seen all the products on offer and the Lush team were demonstrating how their face masks are made - proving just how fresh and handmade they really are.

The lovely ladies made a batch of "Catastrophie Cosmetic"; a soothing, cleansing and moisturising mask for all skin types. As you can see there were fresh blueberries in the mix and we were offered to nibble on some before they were thrown into the mix. The smell of the mask was incredible and lasts up to two weeks when kept refrigerated. That's got to be better for our skin than processed products and since using it I have to say my skin has really enjoyed it!

Another thing I discovered is that Lush have their own spas dotted around the country with what sound like the ultimate relaxation and pampering. I am definitely looking to indulge in one of their treatments because they sound incredible and a lot of thought has been put into creating the ultimate relaxation treatments. We were told about The Sound Bath by Lisa of the Lush team who'd experienced it - a meditative and rebalancing treatment which sounded like heaven.

There are lots of wonderful masks to choose from, with skin treats for all and showcased in a bath of ice as Lush don't like to hide their products away in the fridge and rightly so! It's lovely to see just what goes into their products and if they say strawberries (for instance) go into one of their products, it's not just an extract, oh no... We're talking punnets people!

We were then treated to a hand and arm massage each. Here's the gorgeous Georgina from 2 Pretty Ladies being pampered. I was amazed at just how relaxing it was compared with a back massage which for me is the ultimate heaven and soon I was feeling very dreamy.

We then had a demonstration on their famous bath bombs which are my favourite Lush product and make any bath a magical and luxurious experience.

Lush also have the most gorgeous gift sets, wrapped in the prettiest paper and are perfect for any bath and beauty lover. I always have Lush on my birthday list and have never been disappointed.

I picked up some lovelies goodies* from the event and also picked up some bits too!

So if you haven't already tried Lush, my question to you is why not? All of the products are free from animal testing, fresh, handmade and where possible it's free from packaging! They're a truly fantastic brand and one I've become even more of a fan of than I was before.

Don't be shy to ask for advice in store because the Lush team are so knowledgeable and helpful -  you won't be disappointed.

Live the Lush Life.

Blogger Event- #Cambmeetup

Recently I went to my very first blogger event! I was so excited to be invited and loved that it was a local event being held in Cambridge.

I must admit I was pretty nervous to go, feeling like a real novice when compared to a lot of big blogs out there and not knowing a soul going to the event. I was also suffering with laryngitis so my voice sounded like it was breaking which added to my nerves!

The event was held at Vodka Revolution and initially I couldn't find the room! Luckily I bumped into the lovely Robyn of Simple Little Pieces and together we found where to go.

Inside was full of activity, lots of people mingling, delicious cocktails being served and pretty displays of products. In hindsight I don't know why I was so nervous as everyone was so friendly and lovely! Despite my horrendously husky (and lack of) voice I met some wonderful bloggers and it was great to talk about blogging with other people who have a real passion for it; sharing tips and ideas and just generally chatting to people who get blogging! We also had talks from Cision and Local Secrets Cambridge which were really informative and interesting. Cision are a PR company and gave us all lots of tips and advice on blogging and Local Secrets Cambridge are magazine with a guide to what's on, where to eat and places of interest in Cambridge- great for lifestyle posts!

There were lots of wonderful brands at the event such as BelvoirSniffy Wiffy, Hairy Jayne, Lush, L'Occitane, Neals Yard Remedies, Lisa Angel, Jilly Jilly, Claireabellemakes, The Snug,  Kryptik Rose, Chocolat Chocolat and Kettle Chips. We were each given a wonderful The Blogger Programme goodie bag- I was so chuffed! I may have already eaten some bits before I photographed them though...oops!

I did do a teeny bit of vlogging about the event if you want to see more and you can see more of the goodies we were given too! (Before I scoffed them nom nom nom!)

I must say a HUGE thank you to Pippa of Clashing Time for putting the event together. She did a fantastic job and without her I wouldn't have met such a wonderful bunch of people. Another thank you as well to all the brands who supplied us with such great products which I'm really excited to share with you guys in future posts!

I really enjoyed this event and came away feeling truly inspired to keep doing what I do and enjoying it.

Have you been to any blogger events?
