Moving Keep on Moving...

So in case you don't follow me on Instagram (which you should by the way- Laydey_Katabella) you may not already know that Chris & I are moving back to the UK!

We are currently at this very moment rallying around the removal men, shifting these bastard boxes and sweating our tits off but it'll all be worth it. I'm sooo unbelievably excited to move back to the UK. You wouldn't realise just how much you miss old blighty until you leave. Even silly things like popping to Tesco or doing an online shop or watching freeview seem really exciting as we've not had it for so long. It sounds daft right? I'm also incredibly excited to bring the pets with us. To see Harry run in the fields, fields with grass will be so so lovely and going on long walks. Bliss.

You may think I'm crazy and thinking whaaat the UK is rubbish, especially when you've been able to sunbathe for a whole year. I can reassure you though that the sun although it is lovely, it can be irritating. The Cyprus summers are long and sweaty and with no air-con it's hard to stay cool. Sometimes you just want to feel a normal temperature! I have been craving cosy nights in, warm things like hot chocolates, stews and knit wear. I'm a British girl through and through and I didn't even realise it until we left.

Don't get me wrong it's been a real experience moving abroad and being part of a different culture but it's not for me. I'm a home girl. I like what I like and I miss my friends and family. I will miss the lovely people we have met here and the beach walks with Harry, but not as much as I've missed home.

Anyway our stuff is going today so we'll be living out of suitcases for the next 6 weeks until we leave. By the time we arrive back in the UK our things shall be at our new house in Yorkshire!

It's time for a new chapter.

No Heat Festival Curls

Hello lovelies. Today I thought I'd try something a bit experimental with my hair and road test this Umberto Giannini Festival Hair Styling kit.

photo of Umberto Giannini Festival Hair Styling kit

I've been wanting to try it for quite some time so thought cleverly decide it to try it out before heading off to a bbq... Brave or stupid? You decide! Anyway the kit contains:
-Comb
- Mirror (with a rather cute bird on)
-Ribbons
- Hair Accessory

You may notice the hair accessory from a previous OOTD post (see here).

So to start with my hair was two days old as I thought it'd work better, being less slippery than freshly washed locks. I then wet it down under the shower head and combed through before sectioning my hair off and rolling into the ribbons.

I left my hair to dry for roughly five hours and then removed the ribbons. I then used the comb in the kit to gently brush out the curls slightly as they were rather ringlet-ey afterwards. Below is the finished result!

I'm actually really please at the way they came out and I must admit when I was tying the ribbons I genuinely thought that it wasn't going to work! The kit is easy to use and great for heat free curls with a natural looks to them. My only critique is it claims to be a festival styling kit but I can't imagine any girl having the time or patience at a festival to roll their hair up into ribbons!? Unless practice makes you super quick, I can't see anyone doing it as it's a faff in a tent but for a festival look I'd say it's pretty bang on for textured easy curls.

I also did a tutorial on my YouTube channel which will show you how I put the ribbons in, taking them out and styling of the curls at the end. What do you think to this kit? Have you tried any of the other Umberto Gianni hair styling kits?

The Summer TAG

The Summer Tag

A couple of weeks ago I was tagged by the lovely Lucy from "From Lucy With Love" to do the "Summer Tag." Hope you enjoy!

What is your favourite thing about summer?Being outdoors! I love being outside, having BBQs and Pimms with good friends and family or taking the dog for walks (soon to be in the countryside when we move back). You just can't beat it.

Do you have a favourite summer drink? In case you've not guessed it from the first question it has to be hands down Pimms. It's so delicious with chopped up strawberries, cucumber, mint and apple and to me it's summer in a glass. Yum!

Is there a location that you prefer to go in the summer?I my favourite place to go is a little village near Cambridge called Granchester and there they have a place called The Orchard which fro the title is and orchard with a tea room and deck chairs all around. It's so beautiful and such a hidden gem. Behind it are meadows too with a river. It truly is a blissful place to go on a summers day!

Favourite makeup look for summer? For me I like bronzed but minimal make-up look for summer. Anything too heavy just looks a bit much and with the heat can go a bit melty!

Dresses or skirts?I live in dresses all year round pretty much so that's an easy one for me- dresses every time. They're just so easy to wear and throw, especially sun dresses which I live in religiously in Cyprus!

Sandals or ballet pumps? This is all dependant on the weather really as British summers can be a bit hit and miss! I prefer sandals, particularly my Vivienne Westwood sandals as I always get compliments on how cool they look (see here)

Hair up or down in summer?
I much prefer my how down in any scenario but in summer I like to go with a side parting and braid the front of my hair so it's off my face a little. I hate feeling hot and sticky with hair plastered to my face- that's never pretty!

Smokey eyes or bold lips?

Smokey eyes every time for me. I don't have the confidence to pull off a bold lip plus it's more high maintenance than a smokey eye which can look better when it's worn in for more of a grugey hippy style!

Favourite perfume for summer?
I'm currently loving the body shop Eau de toilette Honeymania  as it's got a really rich floral scent with honey accents and is the perfect scent for summer. (I will never be good at this perfume describing malarky but I'm trying!)

Favourite summer music?

It all depends on my mood really and what I'm doing but for a chilled evening in the garden and a glass of wine in hand it'd be some Zero 7. Their music is perfect for chiling to, that or the Musical Hot Water Bottle podcast by Annie Mac, that's a god send. But if I'm going out with friends or something it'll be whatever summery tunes are in the charts generally. Ooh or LEN "Steal My Sunshine" :-D

I'm so chuffed to have been tagged to do this, so thanks again Lucy from
"From Lucy With Love" you're a doll ^_^. I now tag the lovely Megan from "Room With a Bloom" you're it!

On Wednesdays we wear Pink

I'm feeling particularly girly in my outfit choices at the moment. I probably should have uploaded this on Wednesday to fit with the Mean Girls title but oh well!

I'm aware this is a lot of pink but it's a salmony coraly pink so in my book that's okay. After Secret Garden Party my old ballet pumps were ruined so I popped into to Topshop to purchase another pair. They aren't the cheapest ballet pumps at £16 but they last me a good couple of years and go with everything!

I really wouldn't recommend the hat.. from eBay and came crumpled in the post. It's taken me ages to smooth it out and still not 100% happy with it but in the Cyprus sun you need a hat!

Thinking of having a re-style on the old barnet come Autumn. Maybe be split fringe? What d'you think?

As always check out the outfit video below!

So much for the City | Outfit of the Day

Hello lovelies. Today's outfit is one of my current favourites and a really easy go-to outfit for some comfy style.
Maxi Dress- Primark
Sleeveless jacket- Primark
Sandals- Primark
Jeweller- various & home made
Belt- Primark
Necklaces- Fiona Jones Jewellery & Topshop
Ring- Topshop

I'm rather aware that this outfit is almost head to toe Primark but I've been really impresed with their summer pieces this year! Maxi dresses are so comfy and easy to wear on hot summer days and the tie dye print gives it more of a grungy feel which I love.

What are you wearing in the heat this summer?

Wedding Edition: Getting the Venue Ready & Wedding VLOG no 2!

Todays post is all about getting the wedding site ready and the marquee! Please note there are A LOT of photos in this blog post..

Top table decoration made of old fallen silver birch from local woods and chalk pen.

For me, this was one of the most stressful aspects of planning the wedding but equally really exciting! My coping strategy was lists lists and more lists so I couldn't forget anything. I'm pretty sure I drove Chris up the wall with my amount of lists but inevitably it meant I got everything done.

Doing everything home made and yourself is fun but it definitely adds to the pressure of organising everything. I had a wedding schedule which I printed off for everyone involved in the wedding i.e bridesmaids, ushers, caterers, marquee company etc and this detailed what happened and when. This was definitely my saving grace to refer to! I also had a marquee layout and printed table plan to refer to when allocating the place cards to the correct tables. The schedule was also perfect for on the big day as it meant Chris and I didn't have to worry about what time things were due to happen and we could just enjoy the day (which we did immensly!)

Once the marquee was in place, the bar company had set up and we'd moved all the tables and chairs into position I could do the fun bit- the decorating! Below are lots and lots of photos of how I decorated the marquee and field with the help of my amazing mum and sister (thank you!)

Hay bales purchased from the farm we had the wedding at.

As I say doing everything yourself definitely adds to the pressure of getting everything ready and finished in time but honestly? I wouldn't change it for the world because everything was exactly what and how we wanted it. I'm so proud of what Chris and I achieved with the help of my mum, her partner, my nan, the farm owners and all the people we borrowed and were given things from.

I would also say if you are getting married and doing it all yourself, get LOTS of photographs of everything you made and really try to take in what you've created. It's one day and it goes by so fast! I'm glad I took photos of the marquee and farm prior to the day so I can remember all the little decorations and bits we put into it.

I also did another wedding VLOG of setting up and decorating which has more insight into the build up so check that out below.

Any questions, feel free to comment below or email me. Our venue was so personal and special to us due to all the hand made and upcycled pieces and for that it was priceless.
