Weekly Weigh In

Hey lovelies. I forgot to do my weigh in last week as I'm busy entertaining family at the moment and showing them the views of Cyprus! Nevertheless I lost 1lb last week which I'm very pleased with. I said before that I'm looking to loose 1-2lb per week so I'm doing good! This weeks weight loss was half a lb. Not so good I know but I ate out twice last week for Chris' birthday and drank a fair bit of alcohol whilst celebrating as well! Regardless it's still a weight loss, I didn't gain weight and I still ate healthily even when I was eating out!

Onto my weekly tip..

I don't know about you but I've never been particularly sporty or enthusiastic for any exercise but I know it's good for you so I try my best to do something! Recently I've been going to a Jazzercise class 2-3 times a week and I actually really enjoy it! It's a mix of dance, aerobics and some resistance training with hand weights. It's none of this jazz hand namby pamby none sense which the name suggests and I find I really do work hard! Plus I love to dance around and the music is good so it distracts me from the fact I'm working out! The instructor is really enthusiastic and motivating which really helps me to work hard. I've never been overly keen on doing exercise classes, feeling self conscious and embarassed to exercise with others but I bit the bullet and I'm so glad I did. No one gives a damn what you're doing as they're too busy concentrating on what they've got to do and if you mess up its fine! Everyone does from time to time!

So yeah that's my exercise and tip for the week. Definitely a good way to burn some calories and get that buzz afterwards :-).

What are your exercise tips and tricks for weight loss?

Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Recently I picked up this Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair Shampoo & Conditioner and thought I'd give it a road test. I have particularly dry hair with oily roots, (what a lovely combo), so was drawn in by the recommendation for "brittle, dull hair" and the "liquid silk" appeal, hoping that it would sort out my dry locks! I've also seen this brand in the hairdressers and thought well..if they use it, it can't be bad! The shiny packaging also caught my eye as I'm a bit of a magpie..

It contains liquid keratin which claims it "targets and repairs damaged areas on the surface and deep inside the hair". I felt it may have had an effect in the shampoo a it left my locks super silky to the point that I wasn't sure I'd washed all of the product out of my hair it was that soft! I'm no sure it's a that great for my oily roots but it left the rest of my hair feeling very soft. As for the conditioner again it did the job of leaving my hair feeling soft and nourished but there isn't a "wow" factor to it. It's no different to any other drugstore conditioner I've used. The products have a baby, cotton like smell to it which I neither like or dislike. The shampoo lathers up well and the conditioner is a thick and creamy consistency which you'd expect from a conditioner.

As for the formula containing liquid silk? Well, come on... do they really think we're that gullible? The liquid comes out in a creamy shimmery consistency but it's not silk.

Overall I'd say these are a nice duo, with  pretty packaging which is what initially caught my eye. The products leave my hair feeling silky and smooth but there's no major WOW factor about them, particularly the conditioner. This is perhaps because of my hair combination, it's probably not the best for me so I think I'll stick to my cheap and cheerful brands instead.

What shampoos do you recommend?

My full natural Eyebrow Routine

Hello wonderful people! I thought I'd do an eyebrow routine post as they're one of the things I enjoy doing weirdly...

So as you can see from above I haver petty sparse, fair eyebrows or as I like to call them- see through buggers. I don't pluck them, or if I do it's literally just the random one or two that sit a little lower down than the rest of the brow. I'm really quite funny about plucking them as I don't have much to work with and every hair is precious! Besides, tadpole eyebrows and over plucked eyebrows make me cringe. Yuck!

To try combat the fact that my brows are so fair and pathetic I use the Eyelure Dybrow kit in brown. It can also be used on eyelashes which is great for summer holidays etc. It's really simple to use and takes roughly five minutes to do. The results usually last 4-6 weeks, leaving my brows looking darker whilst giving the illusion of thickness. For more info on how I apply the dybrow, check out my YouTube video.

I then like to use an eyebrow pencil. My go-to pencil is the Soap & Glory Arch De Triumph pencil and highlighter as the shading is perfect for my colouring. It's not too brown or too dark and with it being quite a chubby pencil I find I don't press too hard. It's a bit more costly compared to other brow pencils, coming in at £8 in Boots but it's worth the price as it lasts foreverrrrrr. I should probably order another one as this ones almost dead!!

As you can see the pencil makes on hell of a difference. I actually appear to have full brows! The fact that I don't really pluck them gives them a more natural appearance in my opinion and adds to the fullness. What d'you think?

So that's my brow routine! Nothing too difficult or pressing but for me it's so satisfying. Is that weird? I just love having done eyebrows! And to think I didn't really bother a few years ago with the shape or anything. SHOCKING.

What products would you recommend for eyebrow upkeep?

Don't forget to check out my YouTube Video on how I apply Dybrow and my brow pencil.

My first weekly weigh in and weight loss history..

Hey everyone, hope you're all having a good week! I had a job interview yesterday (to see the outfit I wore click here) which went pretty well as I got the job! Must admit I'm a little bit frightened to start as I've not worked for about 4 months now and scared I'll cock it up but I'm sure it'll be fine? Right? I have two hours of training to do tomorrow and then start properly in a couple of weeks!

Anyway onto the main topic of this post...This year I decided I need to shift some poundage as I'm feeling a bit bloated and wobbly. I wouldn't say I'm fat but I would say I'm at the point where I no longer feel comfortable in my own skin and certain clothing is feeling a bit too tight. There's also my July wedding looming and I want to look my best so with that in mind, I threw myself into my diet as soon as January 1st came and I can happily say I've so far stuck to it and seen results!

I've decided to use Weight Watchers to help me loose weight as I know it works. They calculate your daily points allowance by your height, weight, age and type of lifestyle you lead (i.e active or sitting down a lot type thing.) Each food has a points value and you simply eat up to your daily allowance! Some foods obviously have a higher points value so depending on what you pick will determine the amount you can eat for the day. It's so simple to follow you cant really go wrong, plus no food is off limits. You can eat what you like providing you have enough points left that day!

I've lost weight with Weight Watchers before, loosing almost a stone and half last time! My biggest problem is maintaining my weight loss. I got down to my goal weight in 2012 and felt so confident and happy with myself and proud to have achieved what I set out to do. I then met Chris and the weight slowly but surely started to creep back up. I don't blame him for it, it was my decision to eat Chinese take always and make bad choices when eating out. I'd just say he was a distraction and like many people- when you're happy and in love...you eat! I attempted to get back on the wagon a few times but if I'm honest my heart really wasn't in it. This time however I feel more determined than ever to a) loose the weight and b) maintain it.

I've been using the Weight Watchers app and it's so much easier than using a booklet and a pro points calculator as a lot of foods are already stored in it but failing that there is a calculator too. It makes my life a lot easier with keeping track of how many points I have left for the day and is great for on the go. It's also handy for people like me who can't get to the Weight Watchers meetings as it suggests new recipes to try each week too!

So that's my history anyway. It definitely helps that my other half is supporting me 100% and is also on a health kick of his own. It's only been a week and I have lost 2 lbs. It may not seem a lot to some of you but it's a healthy loss and I expect to loose between 1-2 lbs each week. My goal is to be at my desired weight by July which is definitely achievable, especially as I'm doing exercises classes three times a week.

The great thing about Weight Watchers is it doesn't really feel like a diet! I had cheese and crackers last night as I had enough pro points left over. I could even eat a pizza on Saturday but instead of piling on the cheese I had a little less and added peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms as a healthy alternative. I don't feel like I'm missing out at all as I can have my favourite things just in moderation!

Anyway that's my first weigh in post. I didn't intend for it to turn into such a Weight Watchers plug but I can't rate it highly enough. In my coming posts I'll be writing my weight loss tips, tricks and motivation. What are your tips and are you using a weight loos group like weight watchers?

Shades of Grey

Today is a scary day as I have an interview and I'm crapping my pants!!

Blazer- Dorothy Perkins (sale)
Shirt- thrifted (originally from M&S)
Jeggings- H&M
Heels- River Island

So in case its not obvious I'm not exactly thrilled about the idea of being interviewed later on today, yet weirdly I actually perform pretty well during interviews and can pull off a confident wonderful version of myself...

I felt that I could wear something more smart casual for the interview because of the job I'm going for (that and I've put on a few pounds over Christmas so my actual interview dress is a tad snug!!) Plus I always think it pays to wear something you feel comfortable in for things like this so you'll feel more confident, happy and generally come across like this to people. That's my logic anyway!

I must admit this outfit is a bit of a bargain, nabbing the blazer for £8 in the Dorothy Perkins sale and the shirt for 50p from a charity shop! The jeans give it that casual feel but still tie in with the smart look. Ive kept jewellery to a bare minimum to keep the look professional for an interview.

I've also just let my hair air dry with a bit of mousse run through it whilst it was damp and just scrunched it. I'm trying to steer clear of heat from my hair for a long while as winter has dried it out massively and I want it to grow and feel healthy again!

Anyway enough waffle except for this- god I love my new camera sooooo much haha. I hope you like this outfit and I hope my interview goes well! Fingers crossed and wish me luck!

New Year, New Blog, New Me

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year. I certainly had a lovely time being merry and Christmassy. 2013 was definitely one of the best years of my life by far!

Now onto the blog stuff.. It was my birthday a few weeks ago and I was lucky enough to get a new camera (which I'm seriously in love with), so photos for my blog should be a hell of a lot better this coming year, not to mention my Youtube videos being better quality. I want my blog to grow; make it what I really want it to be and posting on a regular basis. I'm purely going to write about things that interest me and stay true to what I love. I've got lot of bits planned both crafty and fashiony and also a new addition on health..

I've decided this year to bite the bullet and really go for it when it comes to a new me. Amongst my New Years resolutions there was a)to get fit and b) be healthy and also to shed a few pounds so I'll be doing the odd post on how that's all going. It's not that I think I'm fat (although I do have the odd day when I feel like I am), it's just I'd like to shed a few unwanted pounds and generally firm up a bit whilst feeling healthier too! The July wedding is also looming which is a major incentive as I want to look my best for the day and it's also my goal to reach a happier shape by then and loose some of the unwanted wobble!

So yes, that is that. A fresh new start to the year and I'm feeling really positive I must say. Expect a blog post or two next week!
