#ORIGINSINBLOOM event with Sally Morgan Moore

In the middle of March I had the sheer pleasure of finally meeting blogger and all round mega babe Sally Morgan-Moore when she hosted her fabulous #OriginsinBLOOM event in Cambridge.

I'd wanted to meet Sally for so long after many a tweet and insta comment and it felt like I already knew her- it was so bizarre! She is honestly one of the sweetest women I know and her blog, tweets and Instagram posts/stories are guaranteed to make you smile. I'll stop all the slush now as I'm starting to sound like a fan girl and it's embarrassing but honestly she is awesome! Onto the event...

Donned in a floral get up to match the event theme,  I headed to the Cambridge flagship Origins store for an evening of skincare, tea, cake and lots more. As we walked in we were warmly greeted by Sally and an amazing wall of flowers- perfect for the gram. I couldn’t help but stop and have my photo taken in front of it! Sally’s husband Lloyd had his camera poised and ring light set up for the occasion which was perfect for the many snaps us bloggers like to take!

The evening began with a glass of fizz and a talk from the Origins team on their latest skincare, with the lovely Lucy being their model for the skincare. Her skin was absolutely glowing afterwards and mega soft! Yes I touched Lucy’s face...

I also got to meet Charlotte from Charlotte Steggz who again I’ve had lots of chats with on Instagram and Twitter but never had the pleasure of meeting IRL until then. She was just as lovely in the flesh as she is on social media and looked thoroughly relaxed having her head massage. So much so that it enticed me to have one too!

We were all treated to various pampering from the Origins team such as head rubs and hand massages. I cheekily had both and my oh my did they relax me! With the head massage, I breathed in tea tree and mint oil before the massage began which instantly soothes you. Its then worked through your hair and scalp leaving it feeling tingly long after the treatment is finished. It was heavenly and perfect after a long drive!

Now my strap line for the blog which you may well already know is "Find some time for tea and wine" so when presented with cups of delicious tea courtesy of Whittards and home baked cakes from Sally's husband, I was overjoyed! Who doesn't love a decent brew and some cake to wash it down? I have to say Lloyds cakes looked bloomin beautiful and tasted seriously scrummy too. They put my baking to shame and looked perfect as part of the event's floral theme.

To top it off there was crafting! Yes! In the form of card making which made my inner crafter extreeemly happy. Kelia Calver from Cleverpacks showed us how a simple design but stunning design with the use of watercolour pens, pencils and a lot of gluing, sticking and stamping! I was truly in my element and have since sent my handmade card to a friend for their birthday.

I was in the market for some new moisturiser, having used up the last of my Steam Cream so decided to go with the Origins drink up intensive overnight mask to quench my skins thirst and work its magic overnight.

All in all the event was brilliant and Sally did an absolutely amazing job of hosting the event.

She proper bossed it and made me and I'm sure everyone else felt incredibly welcome and relaxed and I can’t wait for the next one!

Have you been to an Origins event?

Finding my style with John Lewis Personal Styling, Cambridge

A week ago I had the luxury of a Wednesday off and was heading to an early morning event in Cambridge. After a couple of hours I knew I’d be free so when Lucy invited me to come into John Lewis for a personal styling session- I jumped at the chance!

John Lewis Personal styling review

Unbeknown to me, John Lewis have be offering personal styling appointments to customers for a long time but they’ve recently streamlined the appointments into the following two options:

1.       Style Express

This is an hours appointment designed to instantly refresh your look or find that one special outfit.

2.       Style Experience

This appointment lasts two hours and is designed to give your look a seasonal update. Being a two hour slot, it gives you chance to explore new styles and the latest trends to create a wardrobe that works together beautifully.

I was booked in for the style experience with Personal Stylist Denise. Prior to the appointment Denise had details on my dress size, clothing style and brands I like so that she could hand pick some pieces she felt would suit my dress sense and personality before I arrived.  I was then greeted with a glass of bubbly before the styling session began- such heaven!!

I have to say I was rather intrigued by some of the pieces such as this pair of Mint Velvet fuscia pink paper bag trousers- a style I’ve seen a lot of but thought I couldn’t pull off with my shape. It turns out I was wrong and they are actually super flattering!

There were also some lovely pieces from Joules and Jigsaw on the rail and also felt drawn to this awesome cactus print top from Mint Velvet. The smock style top with flared sleeving detail would look super cute for a day in spring and the material was light and soft for the warmer months.

The brand that really caught my eye was HushOn one of the rails sat a beautiful tulle midi skirt with star glitter detailing throughout and I just fell in love and had to try it on. Already having a tulle skirt I thought I’d know what to expect but this one is incredibly light and flowy and has more of a casual vibe to the one I already own. I could see me pairing this with a leather biker on spring days in the city.

Before I could try it on though, I was being whisked away for a very indulgent makeup appointment at the Charlotte Tilbury stand!

There were lots of makeup counters for me to choose from such as Bobbi Brown, Benefit, Ester Lauder and many more but having never tried any of the Charlotte Tilbury range, I was very intrigued to have her magic products applied to my face. Coincidentally my MUA’s name was also Charlotte and she was truly fabulous.

Having seen all the amazing looks on offer, I opted for the “Dolce Vita”- a true Hollywood glam make-up and boy did Charlotte deliver.

After a rather relaxing makeup appointment, I felt and looked a million dollars. Charlotte had worked her magic and made my eyes pop and my skin glow like never before! It was the perfect makeup and confidence boost I needed to try on more clothes and try a new look.

In the end, this was my all favourite of all the outfits had to be this ensemble. The Hush skirt, Jigsaw tee and Mint Velvet pumps. I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle and metallic shoes in one outfit!?

Lucy even took me to The Residence area of John Lewis to snap away my new look which was awesome but also hilarious as shoppers were looking at me like what the hell is she doing!? Ha!

All in all I had a fantastic time at John Lewis being styled and glamourfied. The great thing about the personal styling service is you can book an appointment for any occasion and there is no obligation to buy anything if you don’t want to. John Lewis know that their customers are loyal and we all know that their service is second to none. It doesn’t have to be someone’s wedding or an important event to warrant being personally styled. Sometimes it’s just nice to have someone else pick things for you that perhaps you didn’t think would suit you or to simply have the ease of someone finding you the latest trends.  I also think it’s great for anyone stuck in a style rut and looking for a change and a confidence boost! Being personally styled takes the stress out of shopping and will truly give you the style you desire.

Thank you Lucy for setting up my appointment and taking my photos- you’re a total gem!

The Prosecco Sessions: Episode 1- Internet Dating

The Prosecco Diaries- Internet dating

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had an amazing weekend! I had these two lovely ladies over for the weekend and decided to film a video!

I've been wanting to start a YoutTube series called The Prosecco Sessions for quite some time and start talking about different topics instead of always doing hauls and vlogs on my channel. The first episode is with Pippa and Laura- both wonderful bloggers and friends of mine and we're talking all about internet dating! We cover our experiences good and bad and have a giggle over some of the more amusing/disastrous dates we've encountered!

Anyway I really hope you enjoy the video and if there's topics you'd be interested to see covered then let me know!

Have the best week and I'll be back with a post later this week. Big love!

Brunch at The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie

The Ivy Brasserie, Cambridge

This week I had the sheer pleasure of attending The Ivy Brasserie in Cambridge on their opening day to try out their brunch menu!

The Ivy Brasserie, Cambridge review

Situated on Trinity Street, the brasserie is in the heart of the city, nestled amongst the famous landmarks and offers fine dining to locals and visitors of Cambridge.

The first thing that hits you as you walk in is the decor. I mean, WOW. This place is not shy of colour! Internationally acclaimed Martin Brudninzki Design Studio is the master mind behind The Ivy's style and I personally adore it. The signature green chairs mixed in with the marble and eye catching artwork will having you looking all around the room and is a pleasure to view during your dining experience.

The breakfast menu of the day was exceptional and I found it hard choose what to have. In the meantime we were served teas and coffees with some freshly made pastries which were wonderfully warm with beautiful and delicate pastry.

The Ivy Brasserie, Cambridge

Everything on the menu sounded delicious but in the end I opted for a green juice and eggs royale- an absolute treat!

Breakfast was served by very attentive waiting staff who couldn't do enough for you and honestly, the breakfast was the most beautiful spread I have ever seen! Being in the company of bloggers, we papped away and were on the verge of things going cold before we ate but honestly everything was just so gorgeous!

When I finally tucked into my eggs- oh my god... they were amazing. To be honest I wasn't surprised as the kitchen is overseen by Head Chef Stuart Conibear who has worked in kitchens for over 30 years in positions such as Personal Chef to Prince Charles!

Hand on heart I can honestly say this was the best eggs royale I've ever had! The smoked salmon was phenomenal, the eggs were cooked to perfection and the hollandaise sauce was truly divine.

The portion sizes were perfect at The Ivy. I didn't feel stuffed to the brim or yearning for more- just comfortably full and ready to seize the day after a breakfast of champions! We were then shown to the private dining room know as The Boat Room to take a look around and explore more beautiful decor.

The Ivy Brasserie, Cambridge

Situated downstairs, this private room again boasts beautiful interior design with its vintage prints and accommodates 16 seated guests or 40 people for a standing reception.

I had an absolutely fabulous morning at The Ivy Brasserie and with the menu being seasonal, I'll certainly be returning at various points throughout the year to see whats new! Already I've started planning weekend brunches, cocktails and date nights at The Ivy. It's a true asset to Cambridge city centre and I highly recommend that you go for yourself. I guarantee you will have a fabulous time and it's a true treat.

Steering away from Pink and Grey

I've been having the biggest love affair with pink and grey for the longest time but a few weeks back another colour stole the show and thrusted itself into limelight... Say hello to yellow, accompanied by my good friend navy.

On a recent trip to London I spied this shirt and necklace ensemble in the Oliver Bonas at Kings Cross and honestly I could not get it out of my head. My friend Laura who was with me at the time was championing my decision to buy it but alas my bank balance was not... Thankfully a few days later I got paid and they went straight in my basket!

Being my first ever purchases from Oliver Bonas I felt dead fancy and like a proper grown up lady shopping there. I'd never spent so much on a shirt before and some of you may snort at the £49.50 price tag but for a lady who dithers over whether a top in Primark is worth £8... this was a big deal to me. As soon as I tried it on though I knew I'd made the right decision. The shirt's quality is just superb and I can see it lasting me a long time. It's an investment piece or at least thats what I tell myself (and the husband) to justify my splurge.

The necklace was also on the pricey side but I know it'll go with so many things. Even just a casual grey tee, jeans and the yellow bag will look great with very minimal effort. The necklace does all the talking for you.

As for the beret, I've been having major beret blogger problems! Maybe its the fact my head is the size of a small planet or that my forehead is particularly ginormous but it took me forever to figure out how to wear the f*cking thing! Thankfully Lucy from My Copper Haven briefed me up and gave me a beret break down on how to style it but worst case scenario it was only £2 from eBay so if it stayed in my wardrobe for the foreseeable future then so be it!

Talking of eBay, the bag is also Oliver Bonas but thrifted from an eBay seller. It was brand new but a couple of seasons ago so win win with that. Its bloody fab and lifts the navy brilliantly.

This is one of those outfits that when I put it on I just feel...good, like really good and I can feel the confidence radiating from me with every stride I take and for that- the outfit is priceless.

Do you have an outfit that makes you feel like this or are you gearing up to get one you've been coveting?
